"If a natural disaster strikes the community, reach out to your friends, neighbours and strangers. Lend a helping hand."
International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction is observed annually on 13th of October with a view to spread awareness about natural disasters and various ways to manage the crisis. Disasters can happen anywhere anytime and are common to mankind since this world came into existence. To create awareness and preparedness during calamities, an activity named ‘plan, prepare and protect' on October 6, 2023 for students of Grades III – V was organised. The endeavour was also planned to give a practise to cope up with stress and anxiety which takes place during these sudden activities. Students were sensitised through PPTs , Videos and Mock Drill that helped them to identify the threats and precautions needed to be taken to minimize the effects of natural disasters. It also focused on the reasons behind such calamities and creating plans to protect people, save lives and prevent the hazard from becoming a disaster. It will go a long way to help meet challenges in adverse situations and in coping with these during the times of disasters.
